On our most recent trip to Bangkok we decided it was time for a little bit of luxury. So we indulged and booked a stay at the Eastin Grand Phaya Thai. The Eastin Grand is a 5-star luxury hotel close to central Bangkok and was opened in May 2023.
In this review we’ll have a look at the location, the room, the facilities and the immense breakfast buffet that they offer.

Location
The Eastin Grand Phaya Thai hotel is located very conveniently. It has a direct connection to BTS station Phaya Thai via a Sky bridge, and from BTS Phaya Thai it only takes 3 stops before you get to the bustling Siam area.
There’s also a direct connection to the Airport Rail Link. This means that if you arrive at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport, you can get to the hotel within 30 minutes without ever stepping foot on the Bangkok streets.

Arrival & Check-in
Of course you can also get to the hotel by taxi, and that’s what we did. We arrived early in the afternoon and were greeted by a numerous amount of friendly staff and a beautiful looking lobby.
Check-in went fast and smooth and even though we arrived earlier than official check-in time, we could go to our room directly. During check-in we were also given a voucher for a welcome drink.

Superior Panorama Room
For our stay we booked a Superior Panaroma room and ours was located on the 34th floor. Even though we felt to be up quite high, it turns out the hotel has even higher floors that go up all the way to 51.
The size of our Superior Panaroma room was about 34 square meters and felt very spacious. The room description turned out to be apt, since the view from our room was indeed very panoramic.

As for the room itself, it’s decorated nicely with a modern touch and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom has a good size too, and comes with a rain fall shower and a single, but large, sink.
Some of the rooms in the hotel come with connecting doors, like ours did, which can be handy if you’re traveling as a family or with a larger group. We travel as a couple so we’re usually not a fan of these types of rooms, because of potential noise from the neighbors. Luckily this wasn’t the case at all, and the rooms seemed well insulated.

Facilities
For the majority of the hotel facilities you need to take the elevator to the 22nd floor. Here you’ll find the hotels Mediterranean inspired restaurant, the gym and one of the swimming pools.
Gym
The gym is open 24-hours and consists of two levels. On the main floor you’ll find cardio machines, such as treadmills and bicycles and if you go up the stairs you’ll find the weights and machines.
For a hotel gym it’s a really big and extensive gym and you can easily get a good work-out done.

Pool(s)
The hotel has two swimming pools that are both open from 06:00 until 22:00. On the 22nd floor, right next to the gym you’ll find the first infinity style pool. There are sunbeds and loungers available here and the pool offers a refreshing dip from the Bangkok heat and a view of the Bangkok skyline.

Since the pool is open until late, we highly recommend an evening swim so you can enjoy the view by night.
For drinks there’s a pool bar adjacent to the pool, plus if you want you can order snacks from the restaurant. This is also one of the places where you can use your welcome-drink voucher.

As I mentioned there’s another pool available, but for that one you need to go to the 37th floor. Now because the hotel is so big, they divided the elevators to go to either the ‘low’ section of the hotel or to the ‘high’ section.
Since our floor, the 34th, was on the lower floor we needed to switch elevators to get up to the higher floor zone of the hotel. This can be done on the 22nd floor and on the ground lobby level of the hotel.
Given the size of the hotel it’s understandable why they made it like this. However it can be a slight hassle to change elevators.

When you make it up to the 37th floor, you’re welcomed by the hotel’s Bhu Mhai spa and the second infinity pool. This pool is facing a different direction and has a calmer vibe than the pool on the 22nd floor. It comes with a few seating options and it has a built-in jacuzzi.

Restaurant & Bars
As for food and drinks, the hotel has many options. For food there’s the main buffet restaurant called Market. Here you’ll find the breakfast buffet every morning and in the weekends they offer lunch and/or dinner buffets.
Then there’s Trattoria, the à la carte Mediterranean inspired restaurant on the 22nd floor and of course the pool bar next to it.

Also on the 22nd floor you’ll find the hotel’s Executive Lounge. You can get access by booking one of the room types that aren’t the ‘superior’ type.
On the 38th floor there’s a beautifully designed sky bar called Sky Lounge, which shouldn’t be confused with the actual lounge. At this bar you can get various drinks and enjoy the view of Bangkok

Breakfast
Now for the part of the review you’ve all been waiting for: the breakfast buffet. This had to be one of the most extensive breakfast buffets we have ever seen. After we were led to our table we found a map of the whole buffet on the table. Yes, they created an entire map so you can find your way and your favorite food.

There were many global options available ranging from local Thai, to Japanese, Chinese and Western breakfast foods.
The food we tried, and yes it was a lot, was very tasty and we were glad breakfast was included in our room rate. Although admittedly it did take a lot of time to forage everything we wanted to eat.
Pro-tip: If you want to have a hot coffee in the morning, make sure that it’s the last thing you get from the buffet. Otherwise it WILL get cold.
Pro-tip 2: Forget about hot coffee and request an iced-Americano, they’re delicious.

Price & Conclusion
In total we paid around 5000 Thai Baht per night, including breakfast for a Superior Panorama room. We were traveling in the low season, so expect those prices to go up a bit if you’re traveling between November and April. You can check the latest prices here.
All in all we would stay at the Eastin Grand Phaya Thai again, especially for the rate we paid. The hotel feels like a true 5 star experience and the location is perfect if you’re looking for luxurious hotel when you just arrived in Bangkok, or if you’re leaving soon and want direct access to the Airport Rail Link.
Thank you for reading along and happy travels!
