If you’re like us and have plenty of time to spend at Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 4,  then this article is for you. We recently had a layover of over 6 hours here while traveling from Okinawa to Kuala Lumpur.

Normally, we’re not the biggest fans of spending so much time in an airport terminal, as we much prefer getting to our destination as quickly as possible. But sadly that’s not always how travel works, and every once in a while, every traveler has to suffer through a layover.

Fortunately, there are plenty of things to do at Singapore’s smallest terminal. So if you ever find yourself with extra time at Terminal 4, here’s everything you need to know and how to make the most of it.

About Singapore Airport Terminal 4

Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 4 first opened in 2017 and is often referred to as the ‘Budget Terminal’.  In most countries, you might expect poor amenities and a run-down building from a budget terminal, but that’s definitely not the case at Singapore airport.

Terminal 4 mainly serves short to medium-haul destinations within Asia and is mostly used by low-cost carriers. But despite being home to budget airlines, the terminal itself feels anything but budget.

Terminal 4 – Transfers

Unlike the first 3 terminals, Terminal 4 is not connected to the airport’s Skytrain. This means that if you need to transfer to any of the other terminals for your connection, you’ll be transported by bus.

We had a transfer within Terminal 4 itself, which we thought was going to be super easy. It kind of was, except for one thing: everyone transferring here must go through security again. Even if you’ve just stepped off a plane, you’ll still have to empty your bag all over again. So be aware of that and hold off on re-filling your water bottle!

Things to do in Terminal 4

The main highlight for us at Singapore Changi’s terminal 4 was definitely the slide. And yes it’s a long slide, and no luckily it’s not just for kids.

You’ll find the slide in the back near the heritage zone on level 2. Once you’re there all you need to do is scan your boarding pass and go through the gate, mentally prepare yourself and then slide-ff to the lower level. Keep in mind that as an adult sized-adult, you’ll go pretty fast.

Opposite from the slide, on level 1, you’ll find the H gates and the Chandelier. This is a 16 meter tall structure, which you can climb and also serves as a play-area.

If you take the escalators up, you’ll enter the general terminal area again, where you’ll find plenty of duty-free shops. In the Heritage Zone, there’s an impressive video projection about Singapore that plays about every 15 minutes. As you walk through, you’ll also come across art installations, TV areas, and places to sit.

Fun fact: There’s also a free arcade in terminal 4. It’s a bit hidden so you’ll need to walk all the way towards gate 18, where you’ll find the entertainment corner. It’s completely free, so you can play as many arcade games as you want!

Lounge at Singapore Terminal 4

If you head towards the center of the building and take the escalators up, you’ll reach the mezzanine level. Here, you’ll find two lounges in Terminal 4.

The first lounge is the Cathay Pacific Business Lounge, and the second is the Blossom Lounge by Plaza Premium. The Cathay Pacific lounge is only accessible if you’re flying with them in Business Class or First, or if you have status with the airline. The Blossom Lounge is a more general lounge that you can either access it with a Priority Pass or you can purchase a single 3-hour entry ticket for about 55 SGD.

If you want to see what the Blossom lounge is like, check out our detailed video review below.

Terminal 4 Snooze & Rest Area

If you don’t have lounge access, there’s still a way to get some rest. On the other side of the mezzanine level, you’ll find a free snooze area. Here, you’ll discover comfortable seats where you can take a break and even doze off for a bit. If you get snack-ish there’s a food court across from the snooze lounge, offering all types of food. Keep in mind that it’s an airport so the food is priced as such too.
