5 star Luxury at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok – Full review

Millennium Hilton Bangkok

During our most recent trip to Bangkok we decided we wanted to stay in a hotel near the Chao Phraya River. We found out that the Millennium Hilton Bangkok was recently renovated and that it offers many facilities. Since we have Gold Status with the brand we were also eligible for a complimentary room upgrade and free breakfast. This made it an easy decision for us and we were excited to check-out and review the hotel.

In this review we’ll have a look at the location, the room we stayed in, the facilities and their extensive breakfast buffet. Let’s find out if the Millennium Hilton is worth it!

Location

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok is located on the western side of the Chao Phraya river, right next to one of our favorite malls, the Icon Siam. It’s right next to the river and the walk to the Icon Siam is only 5 minutes. Also if you walk out of the hotel you can find many bars, local restaurants and massage places.

The easiest way to get around from this hotel is by taxi and we had no trouble getting one. If you book this hotel, it will take some time to get to popular sites in the city. So that’s something to keep in mind.

As an added bonus the hotel offers a free shuttle boat service to BTS station Saphan Taksin. From here you can easily get around in Bangkok. The shuttle boat leaves every 30 minutes

Pro tip: Take the free shuttle boat and just stay on it to have a free mini river cruise!

Arrival & Check-in

The hotel’s entrance is away from the busy street and you’ll be welcomed by hotel staff upon arrival. You enter the hotel through a big glass door and the lobby is a large open and beautifully decorated space. It really feels like stepping into luxury.

Upon check-in we were informed that our Twin Premium room got upgraded to a Twin Executive room. This means that we got a room on a higher floor, an in-room coffee machine and executive lounge access. We were also escorted to the lounge to continue our check-in there.

Twin Executive Room

Let’s have a look at the room first. We had a Twin Executive room on the 28th floor with two large twin beds. The room itself felt very modern, with a smart tv, lots of outlets, a little sofa and yes a coffee capsule machine. As for the beds, these were very nice and had a good firm-to-soft ratio for a good night’s sleep.

The bathroom is also quite big and comes with a bathtub, a separate shower cabin, a toilet and a single sink. There’s also an unusual amount of mirrors in the bathroom. No matter where you look, you’re always looking at yourself.

Having a room on one of the higher floors is a real advantage here, as you’re treated to a great view of Bangkok’s skyline and the Chao Phraya river.

Facilities

This hotel has a lot of facilities, just like you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Facilities include a gym, a swimming pool and a spa to relax after a long day of walking in Bangkok. The hotel also has 4 restaurants and a 360 degree rooftop bar.

Infinity Pool

The pool is located on the 4th floor and is a 20 meter long infinity edge pool. It comes with a sundeck and sunbeds in the water. While it’s not on a super high floor it does have a beautiful view of the Bangkok Skyline and the river. There’s also a pool bar serving fresh coconuts, drinks and snack food.

Pro Tip: You can order drinks directly from the sunbeds and they will bring your drinks to you in the water.

Gym

Also located on the 4th floor, the gym. Now for a hotel gym it’s really impressive and consists of two levels. On the top floor there’s the weight and cardio room with state of the art Technogym machines, and downstairs they created a functional room with a multipurpose rack and room to stretch.

After a workout you can relax and recover in the sauna and steam room, which are also on the 4th floor.

The 360 Bar

On the 32nd level there’s a 360 degree Jazz bar. Here they play live music 6 days a week and you’re treated to beautiful views of Bangkok wherever you look.

The bar serves all kinds of beers, hand crafted cocktails and bites to eat.

Pro Tip: Don’t go Monday… it’s the only day without live music!

One floor below on the 31st floor they also have an outside 360 bar, which is ideal for watching the sunset and enjoying a drink.

Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast is served at Flow, the main restaurant on the ground floor. Breakfast is served from 6.30 am until 10.30 am, and costs 940 Thai baht (€ 25 | US$ 29 | £ 21) per adult and kids pay half price.

The Flow restaurant is set-up spaciously and is decorated in a Mediterranean style. There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and from the outdoor terrace you overlook the Chao Phraya river. We were seated by super friendly staff, that will bring you drinks and other things you may need during breakfast.

Breakfast at Flow Restaurant

The buffet is really extensive, and it’s set-up to wrap around the whole restaurant. They serve local specialities, hot food, pastries, cold cuts, fresh juices and a lot more. Your choices here are endless. You can from pure gluttony to a very healthy start of your day, and everything in between.

Executive Lounge

As we were upgraded to an Executive type room, we also got access to the executive lounge and all its benefits. The newly renovated lounge offers a beautiful view of the Chao Phraya River and comes with lots of extras during open time such as: unlimited snacks, free-flow soft drinks and a wide selection of coffee and tea.

Each day from 2 to 4 pm they serve an afternoon tea with canapes, with sweet and savoury snacks that were delicious!

And from 5 to 7 pm it was cocktail hour, with a free flow of alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine and cocktails. This was accompanied by small delicious warm snacks, cheeses and healthy green things.

Millennium Hilton Room Rate

Originally we booked a Twin Premium Room, excluding breakfast and the rate for this room was 6000 Thai Baht (€ 162 | US$ 184 | £ 137) per night.

We ended up with a Twin Executive room and the rate for this room would have been 7600 Thai Baht ( € 205 | US$ 223 | £ 173), including lounge access and breakfast in the lounge.

Conclusion: is the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Worth it?

As we our room got upgraded, it makes it a little harder to judge this appropriately. An upgrade always means that you get more bang for your buck and with the executive lounge, this was a big bang!

The basic price of Millenium Hilton is on the higher side compared to many hotels in Bangkok. However, given all of its facilities, amazing breakfast, super friendly staff and location it’s still a yes for us.

We recommend staying here for a few nights, relax and enjoy Bangkok from the other side of the river. Take advantage of the fact you are on the river and the many things to do around this area of Bangkok.

For now we want to thank you so much for reading and see you at the next hotel, byeeeeeee
